SACROILIAC JOINT INJECTIONS

Sacroiliac joint dysfunction is a common cause of chronic pain, and it can be debilitating. Dr. W. Edwin Maldonado provides sacroiliac joint injections, Jupiter, for the treatment of this painful dysfunction. The injections are proven to be tremendously effective, reducing inflammation and providing pain relief for months. In the lower back near the spine in the region of the buttocks, there is one sacroiliac joint on the left and one on the right. When pain occurs, the discomfort may be felt in the immediate region but is sometimes referred pain felt in the abdomen, hip, leg, buttock, or groin. Since the pain is often referred to, one element of a sacroiliac joint injection is that it can confirm or deny that the pain source is the joint. Numbing medication is included in the injection; if you immediately experience complete pain relief, a sacroiliac joint injection is a correct treatment. In addition to the numbing medication, time-release cortisone is injected into the joint for the purpose of reducing inflammation and providing long-term pain relief.
